Seems like you're nobody in female singing superstardom land til you a) are known around the world by just one name a la Britney, Rihanna, Beyonce; b) you writhe around on stage in your underwear. And c) have kissed a fellow chart-topper of the same sex. All of these were spotted at the 2011 Billboard Music Awards which took place on Sunday.

Rihanna and Britney fulfilled all three criteria above. They performed Rihanna's hit single, S&M, and copied Madonna and Britney by kissing on-stage. How very 2003 - although, this kiss was more of a peck than the full-on pucker-up that Madge did. And it didn't make the coverage as it was deemed to raunchy by TV network ABC who cut it. Prior to performing, Rihanna walked the red carpet looking demure in a white Max Azria trouser suit.

Beyonce also performed at the awards bash, wearing a revealing bodysuit to sing her latest single, Run The World (Girls). She wore a Lanvin dress for her red carpet arrival.

Bondage fashion of sorts seems to be de rigeur with Black Eyed Peas singer Stacy Fergie Ferguson also copying the harnass style with a Hervé Léger by Max Azria Atelier dress. But how smokey can a smokey eye be?

And at the other end of the scale, check out Taylor Swift who clearly thought she was going to a totally different award show. She looked much too sugary sweet in Elie Saab dress.
