Celebrity Fashion Collections
The Good The Bad & The Ugly
This week saw the departure of Lindsay Lohan from Ungaro. But elsewhere was the announcement of TWO more celeb collections. The newest addition to the group is Madonna, who is being reported as designing amongst other things a junior range under the banner, Material Girl – though we reckon she must be mightily peeved she didn’t think of this 20 years ago.
And then there’s Rehab singer Amy Winehouse. It’s being reported she’s designing a collection of polo shirts for Fred Perry.
It must grate on the nerves of designers who’ve spent years of blood, sweat and tears at the daily grind. And just because you’re a celebrity or look good doesn’t mean you should have a licence to make clothes.
Victoria Beckham is one who is taking her fashion role extremely seriously, spending the past few years trying to woo the fashion industry whilst learn the designer ropes. But Amy Winehouse? A lady who draws on freckles, wears blood-soaked ballet pumps and gets a boob job? We're not so sure.
