Hands up who saw it coming? Fluorescent yellow day-glow on the red carpet? Stranger things have happened. And even stranger is that it's totally fabulous.

Sarah Jessica Parker swirled and twirled in Valentino at Monday’s New York premiere of Sex and the City 2. The gown was stunning. Ok she ought to have dialled down the fake tan but hello, this woman is a total style icon.

We’ve always wondered how SJP decides on her red carpet outfits. Well, this time we know who she got her inspiration from to wear his dress. Model Dree Hemingway - great granddaughter of writer Ernest Hemingway - rocked a similar gown at the amFar Film Against AIDS gala in Cannes not five days before. Yes some people described it as fluorescent toilet paper but we happen to think she looks perfect.

Of course maybe we're wrong. Perhaps Sarah Jessica was taking fashion notes from Victoria Beckham. She was wearing fluorescent dresses yonks ago, back in 2008.
