The Grammys 2012 Celebrity Looks We Love - sequins v LBDs

Last year it was Lady Gaga and her egg arrival, this year there was some crazy fashion courtesy of Nicki Minaj and her guest, The Pope (not the actual Pope mind, just a random in fnacy dress so phew) and singer Sasha Gradiva whose dress was a weird combo of Terminator and princess.

Thankfully the crazies didn't rule though, and gorgeous gowns did make it onto the red carpet at the 2012 Grammys thanks to Jessie J, Rihanna and Adele - who went on to collect six gongs. Trend - and celebrity looks we love -wise, it was a competition between little black dresses and sequin studded sparkling dresses.

So first up, in the sequin sparklers corner we have Adele, who actually managed to bridge both these trends wearing an elegant black beaded dress by Giorgio Armani. Katy Perry also plumped for dazzling beaded blue dress by Elie Saab but she 'punked' it up by pairing it with blue hair, which I'm not totally sure about. Jessie J successfully pulled off a look which was both glamorous and funky in a showstopping silver dress by Julien MacDonald.  I was also delighted Taylor Swift ditched the pretty princess dresses in favour for an amazing gold beaded gown by Zuhair Murad. Ok ,so the colour was pretty same same as we've seen before on Taylor but with the high neckline and her hair pulled back into a bun (yeah for ditching the curls), the singer looked statesque and almost model-like. And Kelly Rowland's Alberta Ferretti dress was very pretty and feminine, I just wasn't sure it was the right occassion for it.

Now, whilst I do love a sequin, for me, all of those dresses paled next to the two outstanding Little Black Dress wearers of the Grammys - Rihanna and Gwyneth Paltrow. Gwynie returned to simple chic dressing, wearing a black dress by Stella McCartney. I love this look on her, the neckline, simple jewellery and pulled back hair. The only criticism I'd make is that it would have been better if the cut-out panels at the sides were actually cut-out and not fabric because the wrinkling fabric was really not a good look. But my favourite look of the 2012 Grammys was Rihanna who was just jaw-dropping in a dress by Giorgio Armani which she helped co-design. I know some people aren't a fan of her hair and thought it looks eighties but I thought it worked with this dress and overall I think she looks amazing.
