Celebrity Looks We Love Oscars fashion flashback

It's time for celebs to dust off their diamonds and whip out their couture, because, people, the Oscars are almost here. The 83rd Annual Academy Awards take place this weekend. And in honour of this bling-tastic bash, we've put together some of the most memorable Oscars fashion from recent years. So in no particular order, let's see who made the list:

Before she was a do-gooder, Angelina Jolie was a bit out there. You know, vials of blood, knives - oh and snogging her brother. So it came as no surprise when, at the Oscars in 2000, Angie pitched up wearing this gothic, black dress by Versace complete with jet black hair extensions. We miss crazy Angelina.

Cate Blanchett is a red carpet star. She's had so many gorgeous looks, it's hard to choose. But we still go on about this look from the Oscars in 2000. Talk about stand-out style. The dress is by Jean Paul Gauliter and Cate paired it with gold Indian-inspired jewellery by Cynthia Bach - one of our all time favourite looks.

Poor Gwyneth Paltow who looked drab, dreary and severely under-supported at the 2002 Oscars in Alexander McQueen. It took her years to shake off this what-was-she-thinking fashion faux pas.

All eyes were on Halle Berry in 2002 when she clinched the Best Actress Oscar. And her gorgeous Elie Saab gown was perfect for the occasion, going down as one of the best Oscars dresses in history.

No memorable Oscars fashion list would be complete without Best Actress winner Julia Roberts. In 2001 she wore this beautiful black and white vintage Valentino gown to pick up her gong, one of the best ever celebrity looks on the red carpet.

Many have tried to copy this look - see Diane Kruger, Kelly Preston - but none have looked as good. Oscar nominee Michelle Williams wowed in saffron Vera Wang in 2006 which she paired with bold red lippie and Chopard diamonds.

The 83rd Annual Academy Awards take place February 27 2011.
